One of the latest engagements includes an invitation to lead part of the rehearsal as a conductor with Folkestone Symphony Orchestra in January 2018.

‘For part of your life, you study the music of the greatest composers of the past. You listen to their masterpieces, you read the scores, you admire the ways they combined instruments, you learn how to distinguish and apply the timbres. In other words, you acquire skills and mastery. But when you start writing music of your own, the acquired skills and mastery transform into a unique result that cannot be reached by anyone else in the world. This is what I call the magic of composing music’, – says Sergey Lunev.
